North York/ Milton

It is comforting to know that there exists communities of varying beliefs that get along with each other. What comes to mind is how I’ve seen the innovative and dynamic couple, Caru and Vaibhavi, communicating and sharing so well with the Mormons in Utah. Also over the years a congenial relationship has been maintained with the Theosophical society, Madame Blavatsky’s group in Toronto. I was fortunate to be a speaker at a Druze’s gathering the time I walked Israel. There are more examples.

Our Russian - speaking devotees in the North York region made good with the Theosophical society. They let us use their excellent facility near the Glencairn station. I was invited to speak this morning with topic, “Just adjust“. (As I recall the group has a huge forestry lot in the city of Chennai). There were newcomers mostly of Ukraine origin, and I really enjoyed the Q&A session. Lots of interest. The prasadam food was divine. No chilies.

From the gathering at North York, a very nice man by the name of Vidura, drove me to Milton where we have established our own Iskcon premises. As we drove into the parking lot, I was overjoyed to see members of the Vishwa Hindu Parisad drumming away. (This is another example of good collaboration). After all the Hindu community and our own Krishna group are part of the same family.

The reason for the exuberant drumming was to welcome the deity of Rama, an initiative to acknowledge the re-establishment of the holy birthsite of Rama himself in Ayodhya, India. The program involve singing, clapping, dancing, feasting, and philosophy.
