Quebec city, Quebec

Quebec is a truly beautiful city with its panoramic features, the Laurentians in the background, scenic architectural wonders, the touch of old Europe and natural new world elements. People are here from all over the world.

Musicians delighted visitors — a man on his harp, a guitarist playing, and somewhere in the distance — the song “As Time Goes By” by Herman Hupfeld — all set in their strategic spots by the Hotel Frontenac. We participated as well. Anubhava, Nityananda, Luv and I threw some vibrations out there with “Govinda Jaya Jaya” along with the Maha Mantra. Our music was of a different flavour. Primarily with mrdunga drum, we bathed in the autumn sun.

Our primary reason for the visit to the stately town was to stop in at the newly established “Govinda’s” restaurant and quaint ISKCON temple at 787 Boulevard Louis-XIV. The facility was open in May, alcohol-free while having kombucha for purchase produced locally. A couple run it, Priya Radhe and Ananta Shakti. Ananta is the primary cook for the veg/vegan operation with pure prasadam, sanctified food. The place is clean and the food, sattvic.

Winters could be a challenge. Tourism slows down, however, the popular time for clientele is from 1 to 3 pm which draws more the local folk for lunch.

It was our guru, Prabhupada, who very much promoted food for thought or food with thought. We are excited about this new enterprise for it makes a gradual change in the culture.
