SNOW LOVE

Thursday, December 25th, 2025

Montreal, Quebec

I opened up the door after a snooze for the night, and I saw what many people expect for the day of the 24/25th of this month – lovely white snow. I closed the door behind me, and I didn’t exactly trudge through the stuff even though it was beckoning me to do so. On the one hand it appeared to not being disturbed with my footprints. It was 4 AM. Rabbits had already left their impression. Perhaps I can be given the chance.

It was the town, Russell, where I stayed overnight. Quiet as heaven. My troupe of eleven and I bunked together like a bunch of guys at camp.  In a subtle form of envy, I let them sleep. I wish I could do that. But never mind, I’m never alone. Afterall, Krishna is with me, I like to think Jesus is with me as well. I have to admit, I didn’t see anything else but my bootsteps making footprints for that one hour. No fox. No bird. Not even a rabbit. Only the tender paw prints of a few.

I felt Krishna in the air and in the serenity of the dark atmosphere with white underneath me. Magic was in the air.

On a second snow promenade I came upon a family, dressed in their Sunday best. Church was on their mind, I could tell. I don’t believe that family expected me, a Buddhist-looking monk, to say, “Merry Christmas.” I like to offer a daily gift, a gentle gift.

After the experience of la neige twice, we embarked on a trip to Montreal. The show was great.
