ON THE BRUCE TRAIL

Thursday, June 12th, 2025

Waterdown, Ontario

In sunny weather with comfortable coolness, Nityananda and I drove to Waterdown near Hamilton.  The intent was to visit a sweet couple there – Stacey, originally from New York, and her Filipino husband, Jorge.  Stacey is stationed or positioned for diska (initiation) next month on the Toronto Island, known as Centre Island, with other candidates.  We planned a picnic in the woods, but instead, had falafels in their home before venturing off to Bruce Trail.

It really is a great trail and walking a stretch of it lends itself to meaningful conversation.  “Watch out for the poison ivy,” I warned.

Now, Stacey is a yoga instructor.  She teaches it in the park.  Jorge (of George as some people insist) works at Tiffany’s jewelry store while on the side makes music – good music.  Stacey had questions of a more practical nature within the realm of Krishna consciousness activities.  Jorge is a friendly conversationalist.  Although at this point his aspiration to life on the spiritual path is not in an official capacity, Stacey and I were saying, “You are a devotee.”  Because he carries those qualities of a service attitude, we declare him as such.

The Bruce Trail is one that I’m determined to continue in the future in a piece-by-piece fashion.  When you set foot in it, you come alive with Krishna’s energy.
