MOVING ALONG WITH THE CLEANSE

Friday, February 20th, 2026

Govardhan Eco Village, India

I cross paths with Madan Mohan from Russia who is on the same cleanse routine as myself. He is apparently two or three days ahead of me in the procedure. He is always Krishna conscious, but his body appears weak. That’s the state I am at. The energy is low for both of us. We share our emotions. And it’s easy. We are right next door to each other. We share the same massage therapists who notice that a patient with a Russian body or a patient with a Canadian body are the same, more sensitive to the hot touch.

Life in a room can be a little boring though. I step outside to get some walking in pacing the hall. The recently acquired Indian sandals are not working for me. I need to pull out my Kyboot footwear for happy feet.

Today has more or less been a fast, to the exception of the small quantity of rice water. Dr. Rahul, my doctor consultant, said it’s alright to put a little black salt in the prep, otherwise I just might abstain altogether. I did have a solid six hour rest, which is quite the accomplishment.

My two brahmachari (monk) assistants are so selfless. They are helping with menial tasks and allowing me the comfort and peace I require. That aspect of our Krishna culture, the culture of loving exchange, is what our dear guru, Srila Prabhupada, had in mind.

I believe everyone should have this type of break from routine. Life in the cities are not conducive for relaxed living. We live in a world of dense activity and it doesn’t matter if one is in the east or the west.

One last highlight of the day is the room class with Kolkata devotees. Every day I can present Krishna’s message from afar.
