LEAN TOWARDS PEACE

These last few days have been a sweet wrap-up of the Labour Day weekend and in our Hare Krishna culture the calendar called for Krishna Jayanti, (meaning His birthday) followed by Prabhupada’s birth anniversary. It is all a hell of a time (meant in a good way). There is a catering to thousands of people and this is going on all over the world at this time of year.

For a change and some calmness Krishna Prema Rupa, Jagannatha, Monila and I drove to Woodbine Beaches before sunrise and took to the boardwalk. The water on Lake Ontario had a no-choppy aspect, more like a leveled glass effect. That was the peace we were seeking — a calm after the storm.

The raccoons were going after their breakfast — trash cans. By the time the sun rises they will retreat to their homes, the trees. As it is known with their nocturnal nature, their time shift is not in the daytime. If you’d see these mammals active in daylight it often means they may be rabid or not well. The sun did its peeking over the horizon, meaning the lake and it was absolutely beautiful.

We took our gayatri break. It was on a log that we sat right next to the water’s edge, close enough to hear the slow rhythm of the lapping. Excellent environment for mindfulness.

When the morning is full of shanti the rest of the day is prone to be just hours worth living through.
