The show of appreciation of the previous night’s Gita performance was very high coming from our Montreal group. Our technical abilities for demonstrating super sound or visual effects aren’t daring and this is no discredit to Sarthak and Monik, our techies. They do phenomenal work. I believe it is the simplicity behind the actors’ movement that won the show. I did ask one of the young boys his favourite part and his response was, “When the motorbikes drove in.”
The drive to Huntsville, our next destination, was a seven-hour drive, partially through a snowstorm. Images dominated the day. I would say it’s true of Highway 60 with its many lakes, trees, and rocks. Additional to the rawness, were the many pioneer buildings of homes, barns, and sheds. There were old car models on display at the occasional front yard, a massive Inukshuk. My fave was a Mennonite’s old horse and carriage going down the road (if you look up one site, it informs that Canada has a large Mennonite population). We also got thrilled by two leaping deer crossing the highway in front of us.
Now we searched our temple on Main St., Huntsville. It was essential as in all road show situations like ours, to set up and work on a different stage (or none at all) just to test out what you are dealing with. The test was passed. Due to the storm, fewer people came than anticipated. Nevertheless, those who showed loved the show. Percentagewise, many sponsored Gitas for distribution.
