I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU

Stouffville, Toronto
I had not made a single trek this summer by the Brick Works until this morning. The trails adjoined to it are where, I guess you could say, I trained for long distance walking and which prepped me for the first long walk 30 years ago. Naturally the place has nostalgic value for me. This once massive cavernous pit, its mud used to make bricks for the local houses in the 17-18 hundreds, has now converted into a beautiful habitat for fowl and mammals. Pedestrians love the place. I kept to the trail for quite the stretch.
Once I got out of the ravine at Brick Works I came upon the Rosedale United Church. It’s Sunday morning. The door — open. Okay! I thought, it’s been 10 years since I took a peak, attended a service, chanted japa (softly). I saw no harm in attending.
I was greeted by a smiling person at the door. She welcomed me in. The pews were sat in by mostly seniors, yet a good amount of young couples and mid-ages. The person speaking in priestly robes was Reverend Dr. Kristin Philipson. She said many positive things about kindness and caring for others. The Lord’s Prayer was recited by all. A Laura Hurst sang in alto “I Will Always Love You.” She did that well. The love, of course, was in reference to God.
I exited at bread-breaking time, and eventually made my way back to the Toronto temple/ashram where I met our visiting monk, Bhaktivinoda Swami, over his meal. Precious moments!
Finally I drove with Nityananda to Stouffville to meet with our group of devotees there. Nice community. Everything was sweet, except for the fact that folks turned up late. Today I went to three godly places.
