His birthday, just around the corner
Will be celebrated by over one billion
From a prison to the house of a farmer
He was spared from a nefarious villain
Krishna, born in an oppressive place
Got Himself freed up just as He frees us
Somehow He does so with euphoric face
A subject that His devotees do discuss
He is so much to so many people
A frivolous child, a rescuer, wise philosopher
His life is an unending string of sequels
Vyas and other detail as biographers
His appearance to this world invokes love
And intrugue, who really is He anyway?
He says He is Time, acting from above
Infusing life and death like a director of ballet
On this day, people fast for the occasion
Out of affection for He's always giving
His coming occurred like some invasion
With His good heart He's forgiving
For we all tarnish the human race
With our repeated foolishness and folly
It's a case of His obvious grace
Our only hope in this age of Kali
