Yorkville, Toronto
The community in Toronto hit a major milestone. It pledged a total of selling 379 sets of the book Srimad Bhagvatam within a time of Bhadra Purnima. Purnima refers to the moon’s movement. The devotees here reached the target. This program of distributing the wealth of wisdom is a very pious act, if not, transcendental. The contents of this book can turn a person’s world around as it has done for many of us.
It came to my attention that one of my god brothers, Kutichak, born in Haiti, joined in the early 70’s. He was enthusiastic with a lot of ideas and jokes. Bless his soul ! He loved our guru, Prabhupada. Certainly the Bhagvatam affected his life positively.
Speaking of positive prepositions in life, it was imperative for me to act out the role of walking monk simply by a daily routine. I took Nityananda, the brahmacari monk with me, after shooting a real for instagram, for a meandering up and down the streets near the temple/ashram. There are indeed lots of people on some of the streets. I believe that TIFF the film festival is on in town and that is a big draw. Popular actors come to town for a red carpet hospitality. The event reminds me of when Krishna entered Dwarka under pomp and circumstances. You can just imagine the entourage and paparazzi.
For me the big celebrity is the weather these days. At 24°C it is fairly consistently perfect for working and walking.
