Mayapura, West Bengal, India
We do live in a crazy world. Earthquakes taking thousands of lives, UFOs being spotted, gunned down, and investigated, the decay of morals, and so on.
Meanwhile, I feel I’m in a bubble of peace here in Mayapura, with some minor agitations in the mind. My temporary tooth bridge was replaced by a permanent one sent from Kolkata, thanks to Keshava, the benevolent dentist here. Thank you!
I’m also accompanied by a fantastic group of walkers in the morning – people from Virginia, Bangladesh, Africa, India, and even Canada.
What most impressed me about today was observing the wonderful work ethics of three local men who redid some props for our drama. Our thespian group needs props. We were disappointed by the shoddy work done by a certain outfit with our first try. A second crew came on to repair right in front of us. Just to get the specifications right, three of our troupe sat by to watch these guys in action. It was the real deal. Their mode of operation was so reassuring. They knew what they were doing and did it with cool heads. No bad language. Just good, fast, and efficient work.
I could see in these fellows that the system of varna and ashram our guru, Srila Prabhupada speaks so much about, can work. When I observed for myself these labourers in action, in good behaviour, I see that there is hope for the world.
