I had four spurts of ecstasy today, beginning with the fabulous mangal arati at 4:30 AM and continuing until 9 AM. The theme of the topic at class time was “Themes.” Topical in many of Prabhupada’s purports is the clear distinction between the life of animals and the life of a human. The human has several obligations tagged on to its physical form, such as the sophistication of conducting oneself as a spiritual being.
A second theme that arises in the books is succession. A Vedic king has been ruling for some time, wishes to retire (usually to the forest) and expects the heir to the throne to succeed. But what if there is no son? A sadhu comes into the picture and that changes everything.

By 10 AM the group of Russian speaking devotees came for kirtan and katha (class). The group is comprised of both Ukrainian and Russian persons who get along with each other. The discussion with them was centered around the Gita’s verse 3.23 under the chapter “Karma Yoga.” It was fun.
Pradeep drove Uddhav and I to Angus where a group of local, mostly westerners, converge at a music studio for kirtan, katha, and prasadam. I spoke about my trip to India and the Netherlands, and detailed the significance of Navadwip, the birth place of Chaitanya, who walked incredible distances. In Angus, the chanting was a killer.
Finally, the largest and loudest of all chants for today, was back at 243 Ave. Rd., Toronto. Truly dedicated and gifted drummers were there to support mantra.
So many ecstasies in one day!
