ANOTHER BEAUTIFUL DAY

Wednesday, April 16th, 2025

Durban, South Africa

My final item for clothing in the morning are my compression socks that pull up to the knee prescribed by my family doctor to address a better flow of blood in the legs, especially when flying. There's another reason for hugging my lower limbs. It has become rather unseasonably chilly and damp at 16°C. It is rather cold for South Africa.

I came out of my room to head for the temple room and on the way, my nostrils are aroused by the scent of jasmine flowers. After an enriching sadhana program which includes walking or circumambulating the temple, I take to the direction of the marquee where delicious prasadam is presented, and on the way, a bird, hadeda, in fact two of them in low flight passover making a strange cackle of a sound.

While I busy myself in drama practice, through the hours I managed to slip in an e-mail message or a session on counselling someone, or offer a slap on the back, a gesture of encouragement to young guys, a smile to a female devotee, and at last, a nod to offer to an elder.

A group of tourists from Congo came to visit the temple during our rehearsal. They were indeed taken by our activity as much as the grounds and gardens were appreciated by them. And the viewing of the beautiful deities was another sensation. I'm not sure if the group skipped over for a meal to Govinda’s Restaurant, but I'm sure they made the most of their minutes here like I am spending my days here in Krishna's service.
