A NICE FRIDAY THE 13th

Friday, March 13th, 2026

Port Coqutilam, British Columbia

I always enjoy temple programs, especially the section of study. Kirtan, or chanting, is great, but when there is a serious sit down for hearing the message of the Bhagavatam, that really strikes my fancy, whether I hear it or deliver it. We are looking at the chapter, “The Pandavas Retire Timely,” from Canto One, and our guru, Prabhupada, invested so much energy in this commentary.

Today’s message detailed the shameless act of Queen Draupadi being dragged into the licentious assembly of the Kurus. In the process, her hair loosened, and for this heinous act, prophecy had it that the guilty party, all ksatriya warriors, would not live to see their widows in mourning with their hair loosened. Such is the notices of karma

“What goes around, comes around,” is a common proverb expressing the concept of cause and effect.

After a great discussion on the topic I was fed a delicious breakfast by Satyabhama, although I had to mention, according to my now Ayurvedic recommended diet, I had to decline on some of the preps. My apologies went to her.

The evening program at Post Coquitlam with host, Usha, was somewhat similar, though she was a bit more prepared. Currently sour stuff is out of the question, and sweet too. Too much spice and oil is also taboo. I’m happy about the prohibitions. This evening home program truly capped up this day, with only regrets being that I could not permit enough time to a promenade. I enjoyed the company of dog pet “Lucky.”

THAT'S LUCKY IN THE MIDDLE.
