Stouffville, Ontario
It was the last day for celebration of Kishor’s twentieth wedding anniversary at his home in Stouffville. The event also included a placement of Radha Krishna deities in their very house. For me, the highlight of the program was the sweet chanting that occurred in front of the installed images of Radha Shyamasundar.
While BB Govinda Swami and I partook in the abhishekam bathing of those deities, some of the best kirtan chanting leaders did due diligence in the matter of executing the songs and music. All went well simultaneously under then sun, which has been somewhat missed in this pre-summer solstice time. I cannot praise the chanting enough. Appropriate tunes were utilized to the maha mantra, easy to follow. Such an occasion always helps in the way of transcendence.
This drive toward transcendence is affirmed by the philosophy of Vedanta. So, for our evening zoom discussion, we chatted over verse 2.18, and here it is reflected in its own confirmation about the self’s going beyond its own constitution.
“The material body of the indestructible, immeasurable, and eternal living entity, is sure to come to an end, therefore, fight, O descendant of Bharat (Arjuna).” And in the purport by our Divine Grace, A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, a strong statement is made, “The body itself is unimportant.”
In so many other references, he expresses the value of this body when dovetailed in spiritual service.
