Montreal, Quebec
The boys and I went for an outing. A combined group of Montreal and Toronto monks took to the residential sidewalks. Monks move, or at least some do. Some are hermits, very stationary, others amble along with the itchy feet syndrome. Either way, they have God on their mind.
Our boys are on the move. Our promenade took us to the Olympic Stadium, the Bio Dome, the Planetarium, all located in a space together. We definitely took advantage of walking and were not compelled to go inside any of these edifices because the weather was much too sublime and not to be ignored.
After the leisure walk we gathered at the temple for a quaint shindig including guitars, drums, and golden hearts. I would say for a Monday evening it is quite special. One young man, a visitor from Mauritius with a Muslim background, admitted he was on a spiritual quest. In fact, he had heard about chanting, had acquired meditation beads prior, but is now seeking a bead bag.
“Come on over to a room where we are making some music. In the meantime, join us while I get someone to help you secure a bead bag.” Our new made friend was very keen to stay on and enjoy the company of devotees engaged in what they so much like to do. We partook in an evening meal together. I’m seeing how incrementally people are coming to the shelter of Krishna. The task at hand is, “Can we keep the people that come, or at least have them go with a good experience?” Monks move people.
