A number of us gathered at Aindra’s home to honour his son’s birthday. Dhruva turned 19 and is doing well in university. Also notable is Dhruva’s mom, Prema Gaurangi, who along with her team mates won the world championship, a gold medal for women’s boat rowing breast cancer patients. I couldn’t resist taking a photo of her while near the company of her devotee friends.

A havan (fire ceremony) was conducted by priest, Radha Gopinatha, to honour Dhruva’s birthday and I guess you could extend the honour to his mother. The group that got together to sit around the fire were all devotees from Toronto’s west end. They all spiritually grew up together. It all started by renting space at school gymnasiums, then a space in a unit at an industrial park, then finally a purchase of a sizeable unit in a retail plaza. All along they invested in Sunday school, worship, devotional studies and nice prasadam — food. Their Brampton Centre has become an educational hub for ISKCON in North America.

Nice job done!

The latest project that Aindra’s family is taking up is a match-making enterprise because all the young kids from the west end are approaching marriageable age. This projection is to accommodate young devotees across Canada and the U.S.A.

A second visit today for me was to the blessing of a new events hall at a Marriott Hotel, owned and managed by dear friend, Lajpat Prasher, who does so much for the community. At this fair-sized gathering, all partook in the chanting of the Maha Mantra.
