BE THERE

Scarborough Bluffs, Ontario
There is nothing like mantra meditation in a great environment. Members of the Bhakti Academy and I took to the Bluffs and the beach for a good sky, clean air, water and great company this morning. It’s good to get out of the box (even if it is a temple) and explore the out-of-doors. I am aware that in some places in the world heavenly-like atmospheres are somewhat hard to come by if you’re living in a mega-city or a neighbourhood with little green. At least in most places in North America there is no big issue. A short drive, or walk, will place you in Vaikuntha experience.
Our stepping and chanting was on a peninsula near cliffs. Our sit down for a Bhagavatam class was on the sand. Our fun was in the crystal clean water. Our hero was Alex who swam to fetch the wind swept ball, for a distance of incredible metres. Our meditation (from the book) was how fathomless is this world and how small are we.
The great sky, massive beach space and notable size-wise cliffs set the stage for the open mind required to make that spiritual advancement we want. We want a cleanse. It is human nature to be purged. Now, one of those natural purgers is to be in that Godly environment.
Back to the city and back to the event of the day. Our superstar cook, Dwarkanath, had us over at his apartment for a meal and kirtan. To grace us was his awesome son at a few months old. He accepted his first grains, anna prasana, and that was to the delight of all visitors. I was the one to feed the kheer, sweet rice. I also brought a portion of the meal to Fred, two doors down, a friend for a number of years. These apartments are small. Whether you are in a big space or small, let Krishna be most definitely there.
