MORE THAN A BARK

Towaco, New Jersey
It was just me walking and the robins bob, bob, bobbing along in an expansive soccer and Lacrosse playing fields at Montville. All was well. The field is flat. It’s quiet and early enough (5:30 am) that the kids aren’t out yet. Frankly, I wouldn’t mind them. But then, an unleashed dog came at me, barking up a storm. He kept jumping up at me while its owner made little effort to get it off me. Rather strange. Not much of an apology either once the canine let me be. I came here to pray and the fellow with the bark did more than play. He was mean. Oh well!
Back at the Towaco temple, which is just next to the Lacrosse Sports Center, I engaged some of the members in the drama, The Jagannatha Story. I have four actors, one sound man, and a narrator. From what I can tell, these fine volunteers have little or no experience with theatre. Drama – yes (they are all married), but theatre – no. Nevertheless, they are eager to learn and go for the training. Afterall, it is simply community theatre and is a service to guru and Gauranga (Chaitanya the Peace Maker). I am confident the rehearsals will be okay. Only sincerity and some hard work is required. Conviction always seems to be effective.
I received the news that one of our 60s icons from Canada passed. Gordon Lightfoot, an international star, left a legacy of great musical material. He wrote songs like ballads – not just the usual love songs. A great talent, and he lived in Toronto not far from where I live. Krishna bless him.
