Collingwood, Ontario
Bhaktivinode Swami joined us for a visit to the caves, cliffs, and crevices in the area near Collingwood. This outing with a few members of the Bhakti Academy from Toronto was a breath of fresh air. We packed our lunch on this day of ekadasi, a day to honour a fast from grains. The special features of the day were the fall colours, the trails of serenity and each other. This Bruce Trail segment is marked by a vertical white paint stroke on a tree. We referred this to the Balarama trail while connecting trails we identified as the Krishna trail due to its blue colour.
I should not fail to mention that the ancient rock and caves situated on this Niagara Escarpment brings out the best into a person's adventurous nature. The trail accommodates plenty of ascent and descent dynamics which is great for stretches and the usage of leg muscles you may not use so much. As I mentioned before, those who make use of stairs and rock climbing brings out the creative side of the trekker.
Hosting us is a local couple, Jaya Chaitanya and Justine. Jaya Chaitanya is a good student of the bhakti tradition. He is memorizing a new verse from the Bhagavad-gita practically every week, which he gets to feature on our Gita zoom call on Tuesday nights.
Our picnic at Sunset Point was wrapped up in time to make the two-hour trip back to the big city. Those eats at the edge of one of the world's Great Lakes, Lake Huron, was another plus to a pleasant day after discovering the best organically grown apples you'll ever taste - which is the taste of Krishna.
