Satsvarupa is a young man, disciple, who just got married to Sudevi two months ago in India. He is one of my actors, a good soul, dutiful and who loves his parents and siblings (you see looking at five boys altogether). Their mom, a ballet professional, home school’s them. I must also add that she and her husband, Premananda, were my first actors, doing the practices til midnight when I first came regularly to South Africa. Two generations is what I’ve been working with in the thespian department. Satsvarupa tells me they want children soon. That means I’ll be working (rather serving) with three gens soon.
What a lovely meal we had at their home in the Kloof region. Great family! Like their father, the boys are into martial arts.
As far as bhakti business is concerned, today at the site of the festival, I gave a talk at the Q and A tent on “The Password to Happiness.” One quote from outside the Gita that I delivered is from Gandhi: “Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony.” From William Arthur Ward, we have “Happiness is an inside job.” The “happiness” talk went on for an hour.
Then I jumped up to the Open Air Stage for an hour of happy expression of kirtan. It really was joyful. I cannot not compete with participants like Shiva Shuffler. He is popular and known for blending traditional Indian beats with a modern flair. He attracted thousands at this stage the night before.
