GRATIFYING DAY

Scarborough Bluffs, Ontario

It is with great excitement that I approach this day because Brian is coming. Who is Brian? He happens to be a mentor for people primarily from Canada and the U.S. with his Encounter Religious organization and takes these folks around, who have registered, to visit different faith grounds. Today he came with 56 folks curious about those conscious of Krishna.

So, I lined up my best men and women, residents of the temple, Bhakti Academy participants, to assist me in my presentation on who is Prabhupada, who is Krishna, what is the yoga we call bhakti. End result was a group of people, mostly retired and who know the Beatles, the Mamas and the Papas, who left after their encounter with us, in a happy state. They chanted and danced, asked their questions and had a lovely meal of prasadam and noted that my crew, the Bhakti Academy, are a contented bunch.

That was satisfying.

My second part of the day was also gratifying. After a subway trip to Oakville, where I put in my order for a new set of sandals, Ky boots, I travelled back by that commuter train from the furthest west end to the east, at Kennedy Station to catch up with some of our Academy boys at Scarborough Bluffs. What was intended to be a swim at this amazing beach was more of a play on the sand. I have this 7:30 pm commitment with a Gita Zoom group, this week with East Coast folks. Chapter 5.2 is interesting. Arjuna asks Krishna to please lay it on the line. The question at hand: “What is more important? Renunciation or action in devotion?” This gets explored with our discussion.
