DHIRA IS HERE

I strongly believe in succession  planning and since founders of Iskcon here in Regina are at a stage in their life (Jagannath and Cintomani ) both in the precious ninth decade, age-wise, it has become critical for us to have a successor. Miraculously a young student from India, now well established in work, has come along to fulfil that need. Dhira Mukunda is his name.

He admitted to me when he first came to Canada, he was very materialistic and was very removed from the concept of bhakti. But that changed during covid. He had three pertinent questions that were popping in his head, which led him to the Gita and which finally brought him around to the commentator Prabhupada. It was the great version of the text “Bhagavad - Gita As It Is” that sealed a deal for him. Since that time Dhira, has been demonstrating so much selfless devotion while encouraging the others to do the same.

He’s a gem.

For an evening japa walk he confessed to me by Lake Wascana that he has a strong desire to do something on a ground scale in Regina. The secret will be revealed once this project is over. Dhira is a person of cool demeanour. He’s like the lake itself - calm yet he has this fire of desire totally set in the right direction. It is very reassuring to be around him.
