Calgary, Alberta

For this morning our Calgary walking group decided to not walk the trail by the Bow River due to the fresh rainfall from overnight and the fog setting in. The conditions were just too conducive for mosquitoes. I believe in austerity but not torture! We stayed in the large house of Radha Madhava and just paced back and forth, getting my mantras in and footsteps as well. Walking indoors is never the same as an outdoor trek. It lacks adventure.

I’m able to keep up my Gita zoom calls along the way. I really thrive on these talks and it is such a great way to stay connected. I have been encouraged to keep being a teacher regardless of where I travel, thanks in part to technology.

House visits is one of the things I do during this travel. Coming to the home of Jahnavi, age 89, is a regular stop. Mature or senior people are on my bucket list. I can’t be with 18 year olds all day such as in our bus ventures. People are of all ages and I like to have heart connections with folks of all ages in the course of a day. As I explained to Gaurachandra, “I’m a Libran and I crave for social interaction.” Apparently we are the “social butterflies” of the zodiac. Admittedly so, I also enjoy a daily dose of solitude.

For the evening I shared with the ISKCON community the “Conscious Kirtan Workshop.” The feedback I received was, “I’m glad to be informed,” “I didn’t know about these standards,” and “Very interesting!” With these and more waves of appreciation I left, packed bags and followed a plan preparing for tomorrow.
