AM I LOSING MY BABY?

It is an ongoing concern by parents of students of bhakti yoga. “Am I losing my child? I want my baby to get married. I don’t mind him/her becoming more spiritual but my fear is a commitment to full time single life.”

Some of our young men are keen to don saffron cloth which is the colour for celibate people. That request arouse just the other day by one of our young male residents. When the question was posed to me I responded by asking, “Are your parents approving of such an adjustment ? Do assure them that you will get married but at present you are studying bhakti and you wish to become a strong partner for someone as a result of bhakti.”

Personally I encourage any candidates for marriage to have lots of children. That is a message I conveyed at today’s wedding reception of Priyanka and Milan at our Govinda’s Dining Room. What was interesting about the event is that the couple didn’t attend due to her (Priyanka) having an accident just the day before. She lost balance walking, had a fall and ended up in bed. Nevertheless, family and friends decided to carry on with a blessing, and hence, the chanting took place, prayers, words of well wishing and prasadam.

We do wish the couple well in their partnership. May pain or injury dissipate and service to God and the world prevail despite hurdles.
