A DAY FOR MANDALA

Thursday, May 28th, 2026

Ottawa, Ontario

Today I must give some attention to Mandala Ram, whom I indebted to for assisting me in my trans walk through the United States covering sections of the old Lincoln Highway, at periods from 2015 to 2017. He is an outstanding young man, really good with people. He also accompanied me to India, helping with some of my dramatical productions from the technical side. He is one of twelve children and comes from an Irish Canadian background whose parents took to Krishna Consciousness back in the '70’s. I would rate him as a good husband and father as well. Mandala and his wife, Prabhi, have a beautiful daughter, Avatari.

It was seven years ago that he took his first diksha while today he was honoured with a brahminical initiation. This entails a fire ceremony called havan or homa or agnihotra, mantras to be chanted and then receiving gayatri chants for extra purification.

To the community members who attended, I spoke about the character-building qualities that a person learns to achieve. There are nine of them and they are found in the 18th chapter, verse 42 of the Gita. Yes, the ceremony was open to the public and it inspires some to consider taking steps towards spiritual growth on a personal level. Mandala received quite the congratulations from his friends. His Mum, Kirtan, by name, is always supportive of these rites of passage. A feast was honoured and it was suggested to have the congregants eat upon arrival instead of the usual night time slot. The kids and parents liked that approach very much. Everyone was happy for Mandala.
