TWO FESTS

Mississauga/Burlington

Instead of using the branding “the Chariot Fest” our two communities west of Toronto, Mississauga and Burlington, have promoted their summer fests capitalizing on “Joy” and “Peace.” We do believe in those concepts very strongly. They do work for us.

The first event was in Mississauga at a park along Lake Ontario. Joyful it was. It started off on a happy note with rock band “Rajasi.” This group of guys certainly know how to kickstart the good feeling vibe. The lyrics are all Krishna conscious related. Yoga, food, mantras and a lot of love were the feature of this fine fest.

Further west on the north-west tip of the same lake was the location of Burlington’s answer to peace which we could use a lot of these days. Along with my associate Krishna Prema Rupa, from Switzerland, we more or less followed the band, which was booked in this town too.

There are three generations of boys playing here. Young Keshava, age 4 or 5, got up on that stage like his great grandad used to do and dance up a storm. Garuda Vahan was the name of that grandfather, who passed away a few months ago. That summer festival which is highlighted with a chariot, joy, peace, sun and sometimes rain has occupied my warm months.

It was certainly nice to have delegates from the political field come by and say a few words of encouragement. Our master of ceremonies, Vallabha Hari, sure knows how to engage these folks and how to get them to try their hand at rendering some fancy footsteps. Everyone had a good time with that, yes indeed. In fact anything to do with Krishna consciousness is positive.
