Burnaby, British Columbia
I am not having the greatest luck with airlines these days. All passengers made it on Flair Airlines this morning destined for Vancouver, but for some reason or another, we were asked to de-plane and board again after a wait. Hurray! Another issue is the chairs on these budget planes. They don't lean back, so sleep is almost nil. I imagine that all the space saving (which includes fewer inches for knees) helps the airline to make that profit.
When reading the Vedic stories, you hear about the sophisticated aircraft called vimanas. Even the luxurious way of travel by Vishnu and the the back of His bird carrier can make one a little jealous after dealing with the challenges of modern day flying.
Finally, I landed in Vancouver, had fantastic prasadam prepared by Satyabhama, and had some meaningful meetings. Yet I insisted our driver, Jaya Govinda, drop me off and give me a chance to put my feet to step. The sun was starting to set and I was glad to take in calming air. I walked by Marine Way where it is foresty and where coyotes frequent and noticed one of those large boards that notify the public of a proposed plan for 90 plus new townhouses for development. Most likely, the developers will get their way and those furry canine fellows will need to find a new home. It is sad, but I'm well aware of the housing crisis along with the dire homeless situation.
