PRESENTATION AS COMMUNICATION

Wednesday, June 24th, 2026

Grand Rapids, Michigan

Long classes conducted in front of our youth just doesn't work. You just cannot hold their interest. What is effective is when either the Bhagavatam or the Bhagavad-gita is presented in an interactive way and done timely. This is the method I prefer.

By the good grace of Krishna I was asked to deliver the morning's class on the Bhagavatam, and hold the attentiveness to the end. As a listener of the sastra I certainly don't want to be tortured by lengthy drawn out discourses, why should I do so to others. I do hope not to come across as boasting, because my content of delivery could be enhanced for sure, but I've learned over the years that if you engage your audience they become more accessible to the Supreme (I might add that I find some success with the youth while giving class to peers is something I am shy about).

At one in the afternoon I had the pleasure to “zoom it” with devotees six hours ahead, namely Africa and Europe where we indulged in the third chapter of the Gita. To follow I was chained by phone to duty-bound AGM meetings in the Toronto vicinity. Although philosophical fun is absent in these discussions, they are necessary necessities.

When it comes to communication by presentation, there is nothing superior to entertainment garnered with wisdom. The young families of Grand Rapids thronged to see our production of “Big Fish, Little Fish.” My God, was this presentation, only needing a slight more polishing.

I met Kiran, a local with a Dutch Reform background, who watched the “Fish” magic. She was so much appreciating.
