My craving to walk led me to Rosedale where shade is plenty and is quiet too. And what a time it is. Both wild and domestic flowers are blooming. The place is known for stately homes and front yard landscaping to near perfection. The stroll through this neighbourhood can be mind appeasing. If there were gardens of veggies, legumes and the like, they would lie maturing at this stage, but there’s not much of a chance for that happening. Though vegan/vegetarian lifestyle appear to be on the rise, I don’t see much emphasis on veggie garden cultivation, at least in this hood.
My steps through the neighbourhood still offered a therapy only because there are sufficient trees, bush and flowers to make it pleasant.
A planned chanting program to the north-west in Brampton, happily committed me to meeting new families mainly from the Hyderabad area. A kind Rajasuya arranged for them to his house where we feasted on ekadasi food (grainless). These newer folks are pleased to be connected, familiarizing themselves with the culture of the Gita. After all people are looking. Earning is not just enough. What about culture ? What about feeding the soul ?
One of these relatively new folks from Hyderabad said to me, “I was raised in India, taking some cultural norms for granted. When I came to Canada I got deeper into my inheritance culture. I’m grateful for the Gita and the people teaching me.”
