HOME VISITS! YES!

With my friends from the Burnaby temple we went to visit a nice family, second consecutive day in a row. Needless to say, for a second day also, it was a lovely home, state-of-the-art. Huge! Massive windows. You are inside/outside. A conducive place for kirtan chanting. And for a second day in a row the party that came to visit was unequipped. We carried no drum; silly us, but made due with a box which our driver and drummer boy, Smarty, pounded on two sides to the best of his ability.

In any event, all went well. I cannot express how sweet it was sitting and meeting with such precious piety. I certainly felt at home as a monk carrying out a veritable sannyasi's role. Traditionally holy men would visit a householder's place for perhaps as long as it takes to milk a cow. Speaking from experience, that duration is 20 minutes and not much more.

Our sangha or visits takes one and a half hours. Really, you have to justify the 30 kilometre trips through city traffic to your destination point. Although we live in an age of GPS, automobiles and robots around the corner.

Oh well, the order of the day is to use everything in Krishna's service. If it calls for the use of a car, so be it. If it calls for my phone that has a camera, like most phones today, so be it. On my final walk for the day, I used my camera to capture a heron. I can then appreciate more that here is a magnificent creature created by the Creator.
