GENUINE CONCERNS

Sunday, June 15th, 2025

Red Deer, Alberta

After a four-hour flight to Calgary, Nityananda and I were greeted by Radha Madhava and family.  Our travel was fine, and naturally, there was some concern on my part; are we safe?  A plane in Ahmedabad crashed into a building killing all but one passenger just recently, so it was bigtime news.  That could happen again to anyone on a plane regardless of the airlines.  “There is danger at every step,” so the shastra (scripture) states.  We had landed safely.

Another concern was about the air quality in Alberta.  Wildfires have broken out in much of the country causing difficulty in breathing.  This is now a standard threat to forests every summer.  It just didn’t happen so frequently in the past.  Choking and smoking have been challenges in all of Canada, but for now, we are safe, and the air is clear.  Even clouds in the sky indicate that a good rain may be on the horizon.

A third concern – G7 countries are being represented here in Alberta for summit meetings.  Strangely enough, Trump is invited, who is not on the best of terms with Canada.  Will that raise some unrest?

Representing India is Mody, and we hear that Khalistanis are poised to create some unrest as he is also expected to attend.

A good for mellow element of today is that it is Father’s Day, and after reaching Red Deer for a sangha in this sweet city where I spoke about dads and what Krishna has to say about fatherhood.  I met a mice couple who was in the act of walking.  “Happy Fathers’ Day,” I said.

“There are many good dads in the world,” said the male.  A great talk ensued.
