WORLD IN TURMOIL

The world is in turmoil. The Nepal disaster of flash floods is a cause of death and major destruction. Many of our ISKCON members are missing. They may no longer be with us. The economic war between the U.S. and Canada re: tariffs is absolutely unnecessary. A perfectly beautiful same Ontario (shiny waters) given to one of the Great Lakes is being altered by the U.S. leader — uncalled for. No negotiations. Just whimsy. Ironically the sun shines, but even in the brightest moments gloom can creep in.

Let’s do the best we can under rough circumstances, shall we.

I’m blessed. Another child came forward, a 6-month old. Ambika, one of our actresses, her fine husband from Mexico, brought their little Keshava for his annaprasana, first grains. Ambika’s parents, from Italy, also came by for this little boy’s blessing. My, how he did co-operate. That was positive!

From this sweet ceremony, Krishna Prema Rupa and I jumped on board the car of one of our congregants for fruitful warm visits to potential donors for our Scarborough Centre. This service is all about friend-raising as much as it is fund-raising. While money is important, people are more important. If you take care of people, and in particular their souls, the finances will be there. In our tradition finances have a minister and it happens to be a goddess, one who is revered, Laksmi.

With today’s endeavour in driving from business to business and home to home, many kilometres were put on but few footsteps. Between visits, however, I’ve had a lot of time to reflect and feel for the victims of the above-mentioned catastrophes.
