Where There were Tears

Barrie/Collingwood, Ontario

No one can complain about weather and the spirit that moves in this section of the world - control Ontario by some gorgeous lakes. With Surya, the sun god, in our presence, and the most vibrant colours that autumn has to offer, we wheeled along on Highway 400 to destination, the city of Barrie, where devotees of that community rent a space at a United Church for kirtan, discourse and eats.

Verse 10.19 from the Gita was where I spoke from. The focus was on the opulences of God. I think it is easy to comprehend. I pointed to the outside, through a window, at the intense red of the maple tree all in a row. It didn’t stop there. I was coaching the group there to see, to acknowledge, to count even all the treasures that is bestowed upon all of us in this life. Look, listen, smell, touch, taste to the joys of the world.

There were indeed so many smiles.

There were tears, and smiles in Collingwood. In a yoga studio called “Lotus Sound” on Hurontario St. the Krishna sound was pulsating from the drum of Abhinav, the guitar of Mahadev, the harmonium of Annapurna and the voices of all four of us. Listen, the folks did to the count of approximately 40 enthusiasts. Did they listen ! Did they ever sing ! Did they dance ! The tears came at the end - tears of happiness.

There were messages that came from the group as we wrapped up. The main concern was, “We have a lot of interested people in town (and I must say that Collingwood is a very attractive community and town) but we don’t have a teacher.
