Scarborough/ Stouffville, Ontario

While geese are on their instinctive flight seemingly headed south (i can hear them through the window), the weather warmth of a sunny day makes me want to not wander too far. The sun was indeed intense at noon at the home of Amul, where our annual visit welcome so many Bengali and Bangladeshi folks. The house was packed, the incense strong, the temperature quite up there. I was getting rather claustrophobic, yet happy inside my mind. The people paid attention to my explanation of 10.12 from the Gita where we hear that God is within, like a light dissipating the darkness that we bear.

Bengalis really know how to cook. One just has to stay away from the sweets, rasagula, misti dahi a sweet, baked yogurt, which are both deadly delicious.

In Stouffville I had a chance to walk a bit more, before our bhakti program began. North America goes wild near Hallowe’en time. On display just next to church where Iskcon followers gather was an animated werewolf and other scary creatures. It is that time of the year when people relish in the more horrific mellows.

The verse I spoke from was 8.3 of the Gita, exploring the nature of Karma and the soul. Very relevant questions came out of the group which boosts having an active Sunday school group of lessons going on on the side.

Nice community ! Lots of love — bhakti.
