TO AFRICA

Joburg/Durban, South Africa

It was rush, rush in both Atlanta and Johannesburg airports. However, when I landed at Durban – no lo luggage. I left my filled out form to recover my three suitcases with the office at King Shaka Zulu Airport. The relief I felt from this minor anxiety (worse things could happen) was meeting the greeting team comprised of Rasasthali, Wesley, Sookie, and his brother Sudevi – all actors whom I worked with in the past. They bore happy faces and happy hearts.

I AM IN DURBAN AND IT'S PREM VIKAS' BIRTHDAY!

I tucked myself to bed after the long flight (walking is superior) after midnight, and of all things I dreamt of during the course of a good sleep was a bit of a flashback to my childhood. My 5 siblings and I were in the forest clearing it of fallen branches. We were in that mission mode to plan for a fire, maybe for outdoor cooking or as a challenge to mosquitos and evening coolness. There we were, all crazy about jungle affairs, in survival consciousness, and even readying ourselves for self defense against a possible onslaught of the enemy; who knows who would want our hides. We were there to help each other. We were enwrapped in juvenile, or at least youthful innocence.

Perhaps such wilderness placement in my dream was conjured up because now I am in Africa – a realm of greenness and wonder. I was safe and sound in my room and I woke up with peace of mind, ready to take up the task of teamwork towards a project as was indicated in my dream. We need each other to accomplish things. There is time for solitude, but solo ventures rarely pan out to be successful.
