Durban/Joburg/Mauritius
At the Durban Airport before security checking and boarding I sat with a group of devotees to ponder on next year’s drama project. It was suggested that we bring back the story of Krishna’s kidnapping. Because the apparent “kidnapping” was consensual by an adult who wanted to marry him - “elopement” is likely the right word. Whatever! The basic story line of this spiritually charged tale is very attractive. So, this is likely the route I’ll take for next year.
I went through security, customs and landed in Joburg where I was asked so many questions by the gate authority. “Let me see your ticket for when you are leaving?” So many questions. Apparently my drugs are coming into the country of Mauritius, hence the questions.
The world is crazy. I was also informed by the devotees in South Africa that on the last day of the Easter weekend Ratha Yatra event, the security hired grouped together to loot all of the restaurant stalls. Can you imagine? The security.
How crazy does it get?
Once I arrived in Mauritius everything was sane. The people are nice. Hare Krishna has a good reputation. I was greeted by a happy bunch with kirtan chanting, flowers garlands and kind words. A meal of healthy stuff and some words from my side to the greeters informing them of my last years’s travels, satisfied all of us before retiring.
When I awoke I peered at my device and found out about the passing of my friend, Caru, from Utah. Death is a difficult phase to swallow about others. When it becomes our turn is most impactful.
