Maple Ridge, British Columbia
Mukunda Madhava and Nancy, along with their four children, recently moved to their new residence in Maple Ridge, and as a form of housewarming, decided to host a few of us for a Gita Chat on Zoom, a chanting session, and eating. It just so happens to be Thanksgiving Day, that special time express gratitude for all the facility, food, family, and friends. The truth, however, is that adequate thank yous can never be a reality. It is a time to do inventory or stock of all the blessings to the best of our ability.
Those who find it a challenge to do so and swim in the sewer of cynicism are more or less cursed. What can I say? Count those benevolent things received in subtle or tangible forms, and life will shine for you.
Mukunda Madhava is a great cook and caterer. Nancy bakes the best. Because it is ekadasi today, a day to fast from grains, the meal was light, but tasty. Oh my God! Was it ever! It matched our Gita discussion on the suject matter of bringing down emotional tones and staying more firm on duty. I meant to say that the prasadam was excellent, and so was the talk.
I believe it was Alex who asked if there was any room for feelings. We know that at the dawn of the Kuruksetra war, Arjuna was highly emotional before taking up arms. Krishna suggested he put those sensations to the side and concentrate on the task at hand.
I mentioned to Alex that sentiments are real and they cannot superficially be suppressed. However, there is a right time, place, and circumstance for everything.
