A very friendly voice owned by a person of the name, Harilila from Houston asked that I gave a class via Zoom to an audience from North America, Europe and India on this day. The subject was “time”. A good number of listeners were seniors and so the topic is relatable. Bhagavatam 3.10.11 has interesting things to say:
“Eternal time is the primeval source of the intersections of the three modes of nature.”
“In Hebrew literature time is accepted, in the same spirit, as a representation of God. God who at sundry times and in diverse manners, spoke in time post unto the fathers by the prophets…”
“Time is the basic measurement of the activity of our senses, by which we calculate past, present and future, but in factual calculation time has no beginning and no end.”
“Pandita Canakya says that even a slight fraction of time cannot be purchased with millions of dollars, and therefore, even a moment of time lost without profit must be calculated as a greatest loss in life. “
The above is all good stuff and worth contemplation. Our listeners to these passages and my additional remarks became food for thought. I particularly liked the questions at the end of my delivery. One was odd though, “How do we understand that there is no such thing as ‘time’ in the spiritual world.”
My answer, “Well wait until you get there. Who cares anyways? Let’s not get too futuristic. Be more concerned with your service to others in the present. There is a beauty of now. It is a present.
