PRABHUPADA’S WORD, BLOOMING LOTUS

If we follow Prabhupada’s word

ISKCON’s future will be superb

If we rely too much on an outside source

We set ourselves up for some remorse

If we cannot discuss diversity within

It’s possible we are in an endless spin

If we vie for division over unity

How can we speak of community?

If we cannot offer comfort and safety

To those belittled simply for being a lady

We are no better than Ram’s foe, Ravan

A tyrant, an ogre, with dharma forgotten

Have drifted from mature adulthood?

Where is protective and responsible manhood?

Our Founder Acharya made it quite clear

Women gurus – “Yes, not so many” – hear hear

To stray from his order invites reaction

Prolonged discussions become a distraction

Let us reference him and nothing more

End delays and stalling, try to restore

Move forward, leave dark ages behind

To those hesitant, his words are so kind

“Of women I am intelligence, patience, fine speech”

Guru qualities well within Krishna’s reach

With cultural sensitivity we can take notice

And witness ISKCON’s blooming lotus
