Yorkville, Toronto

There has been beautiful interactions with creatures of the wild as of late. I’m referring to urban wild-life such as owls, hawks, squirrels, skunks, raccoons, and also, well, humans. All good, mind you! There was even a dog, one of those of the hunter category who moved slowly in a perpendicular direction right in front of me. I almost tripped over him. I learned something from this canine creature. It was so focused. Its target was a squirrel in the park. The busy-tailed tree-loving creature was chewing on something, breaking a nut with its expert gnawing teeth. Its predator was eyeing the squirrel as it made steady strides. 100% focused it was and in deep silence edged its way forward. I stopped to see what would happen. Other pedestrians also halted for the same reason. Everyone was motionless in the suspense.

Relating more to my daily japa, I envied the dog for its determination, focus and utter silence. I wish I could be like that.

End result of the hunt, well the squirrel scurried its way up the nearest tree leaving his adversary defeated.

After this episode I heard a voice behind me, “Excuse me! Excuse me!”

“Yes!”

A middle-aged man with the surname Shapiro introduced himself as a former psychiatrist and now life coach. “I’m doing a project. Can I interview you?”

That led to a marvelous session with him and his camera crew, Thomas and Kyle. The questions were deep and also involved my walking adventures. Animals, birds and people can all be wonderful.
