The lucky man goes by the name Tulsi. The lucky lady is Vita. They both have known each other for some years but finally the two of them decided to tie the knot in matrimony and make it official. All who attended the wedding were really happy about that.
Who came?
Family. Friends. Perhaps the only person “new” to the couple was the officiating priest, ananda Gauranga, formerly a well-known cricket player, now corporate man and when called on to do marriages and other samskars, or sacraments. The Hanna family (from Tulsi’s side of the family ) asked me if I knew a local priest ?
“I have just the man you want. He knows the procedures, the mantras, the explanations and he can make it interactive.” I suggested Ananda. He ended up being won over by the attendees, most of whom had never seen a Vedic wedding before.
The setting was great, by a flower garden and lovely Georgian Bay as the backdrop. The fire ceremony was held outdoors under a gazebo. As mentioned, this was all fresh, new and entertaining for all these western folks. The music was divine, the food (exotic) and blessed. I admit there was some stiffness felt by the people at first. It didn’t take long before everyone chanted “Hare Krishna”.
Remarked Garuda Vahau, “this is the best to introduce Krishna to the people." He is in his 70’s. He cooked the whole feast while being the father of the groom.
