Rosedale, Toronto
Naturally, during the course of a month, I think about my biological family. Surving are five siblings. In order of age they are Connie, Jerry, Rose Ann, and set of twins, Paul and Pauline. I am the oldest. When there is a birthday among us, we share in a congratulations over the phone. We talk silly at that time. What’s unique about us is that we are all a year or a year-and-a-half apart from each other, so in our time growing up together, we were quite close in our dealings with each other. That’s a plus.
Also, karmically, we have all done quite well with very few physical issues. Although we are all aging and in our 60s (to the exclusion of myself – I’ll be 71 in October), relatively speaking, we are not that bad. That is the blessing of Krishna, of course. In any event, they are in my thoughts lovingly.
As it is with most days, we move through them as if walking on lotus pads while jumping over the flowers themselves. The Gita Chat that I conducted went fairly smoothly. It’s always a joy to connect with our Tuesday night group. This evening we spoke from Chapter 5 about that perfect person with all the saintly qualities. That certainly isn’t me, and while I praise my siblings, hardly a one of them attends spiritual services; some of them might believe in a higher power.
Who knows? I haven’t really asked them? The topic doesn’t come up, although we were raised religiously. Perhaps our lives are just too comfy and science just might mean a lot to them like so many people today. It is my belief In Krishna that allows me to jump over those lotuses from pad to pad.
