MARITIME REFLECTION

Monday, June 13th, 2023

Toronto, Ontario

I'm back from travels to the Atlantic provinces of which there are four – Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Prince Edward Island. It was a glorious travel, as usual, for me. We have some really good leadership there. Since a year ago when I visited, I witnessed increased participation in the various communities, not multitudes, but a slow and steady growth. And although there was a rather steady overcastness and coolness, it kept mosquitoes down, as well as fires. It is always good to see the bright side of everything.

ROCK FORMATIONS IN NEW BRUNSWICK.

I could easily highlight events on that trip, for instance, I met Jennifer from Alberta on the phone. She is so young and yet she's braving the rugged East Coast trail on foot. I hope she does cover the trail. And I met Jamie Day in St. John. On his way to work, he pulled over to chat. Naturally, he rarely spots a monk, what to speak of one in motion. He had so many questions. I hope our rep there, Nakula, does some follow-up.

It was great to see the enthusiasm of the Hindu temple in Halifax. Those folks are really looking forward to the weekend's Chariot Fest. And even to the last day in the Maritimes after visiting a retired professor at his seniors’ home, a woman in the parking lot simply asked, “How are you?”

I said, “Fantastic!”

“And the weather is great,” she responded, as it actually got sunny. “It IS fantastic!”

“Yes, there are more favourable words that start with ‘F’ than the popular word that begins with ‘F’ which we hear all the time.”

We both laughed.
