KRISHNA HAS COME TO QUEBEC

Quebec City, Quebec

Leo is always a pleasant guy and is a safe driver. Highways 417 and 40 were smooth sailing avenues for making it to Quebec City where a new ISKCON Bhakti Yoga Centre was being born. The location, 787 Louis 14 Avenue, is the venue for a restaurant, a meditation room and workshop. The couple now running it are Ananti Shakti, a super skilled handy man with a 26 year career as an army man, disciplined and kind at the same time, and his partner, Priya Radhe, organized, clean, hostess and has a hand at growing food, preserving it and living the good life.

She was doing that (the good life stuff) at her home outside the city, alone. Her neighbour across the street was told that she was heading up a cult. Watch out! That neighbour found her harmless, in fact a good person, and they married, pulled talent and resources together. The end result - this project.

Three years ago I came through to Quebec City, visited Priya and suggested to her, “Why not start an ISKCON branch here.” At the time she was not ready. After they met they got ready.

Some local people of the bhakti line came and from Montreal too to celebrate the opening of the facility. My dear friend, Bhakti Prabhava Swami, also attended. That makes two senior monks as participants.

Sadly, a maple tree, a threat to the building’s foundation, was taken down, only to get replaced by some lower shrubs in the near future.

The talks, the chanting, the food was sublime. I wish all the success to this new project, a model to follow.
