Yorkville, Toronto

I wrote this poem as my birthday is coming soon.

I’M 74

Forgetting names

Of people n’ places

A sure symptom

Of the aging process

I’m now 74

I made that score

Not 100% loss

But incremental

A slowing down

A notch or so

Goes with territory

You lose some glory

Since one year

The love’s still around

Maybe enhanced

Reason being

I stuck it out

I did not quit

I’ll push forward

Longevity 34 more

I like what I do

What do I do?

Encourage! Smile!

And walk a mile!

Travel! Teach!

Dance! Sing!

What will it bring?

More of the same

Service to all

Serve and do not swerve

Wish and pray

Practically every day

Good vibes to friends

And enemies alike

Make sure to strike

While the iron’s hot
