Yorkville, Toronto
Prem is from Mexico and has this wonderful wife, Ambika, who is one of our regular actresses in our dramas. His profession lies in massage therapy and he has his clinic in his home in The Annex. He did a great job on me this morning. I actually don't feel that I deserve this special treatment because I'm not on one of those marathon walks these days, although hankering to be which is another story.
My peers, some of whom have reached monk status (sannyasa), do take the time to receive massage, have restrictions on their diets and try not to subject themselves to over-exertion. We are talking about people in their 70's and it is the right time to try to push for some extra added years through taking care of the health factor.
Someone suggested that these next years will be "the time of tears" when the first generation of the Iskcon mission will pass on. With the recent departure of His Holiness Gopal Krishna Maharaja, that red flag flared up saying, "We are not going to be here for that much longer."
Regarding my own health, I'm doing not too bad. I can't say I'm as fit as a fiddle. I get the occasional vertigo spell in a minor way. Anyone who works on my legs can also see I have some varicose veins. I attempt to remedy that by getting an assistant to hold vertically my limbs for a good 5 minutes at least at night. I'm fairly careful on sugar intake, and take caution on the oil consumption used in the Indian cooking. Frankly, my best meals are when I'm on the road. Simple, healthy, less. I'm hankering again.
