Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island
I walked, then sat by the bay side overlooking water that was crawling in a retreat for the low tide. Red sand is exposed. A couple passed by and made their morning swim. They do it religiously. When they came out of this salt water I asked, “How’s the water? Do you do it every day? How about in the winter, January?”
“He does,” she pointed, “breaks the ice first.”
Two other guys, they looked retired, but boldly went into the H₂O. Their steps were cautious as they spot. I knew they were Canadian because they said “eh!” a few times.
Nearby crows also spoke. I couldn’t understand a word. When I attempted to use the “caw” language they went silent and then flung away.
Six of us drove to Rustico, a haven for beach tourists. We spotted osprey nesting. Then we explored the Atlantic ourselves edged by the red sands. We had our fun. I managed to squeeze in a meeting in preparation for the October 2, 3, 4 MANTRA retreat.
Down to business we all went to Charlottetown’s tourist trap, the boardwalk by the Convention Centre. On the grass we chanted, backed by mrdunga, accordion, and karatals.
Sunkit, our associate from Nepal, cut a reel for MANTRA promotion. Feigning James Brown, while hitting the first notes for “This is a man’s world,” he did splendid, capturing the mood of the singer.
Off we went to the venue where the Hindu Society of PEI functions. They were a happy bunch and were attentive to my explanation of the Gita’s verse 8.19. Finally I caught the Gita zoom class with the Tuesday night crew. (It is open to all.)
My conclusion — FULL DAY.
