Thunder Bay, Ontario

A First Nation’s person, a male artist, came to my side when I was sitting by a bench. He showed me his canvas piece he worked on for this very day. It portrayed, a mountain, a thunder bird, a bear and was a colourful, textured looking rendering. The artist wanted to know if I would buy it, but I had no money at the time, nor the walls to show it off with.

“I’m really sorry, Ben”.

While walking on Cumberland St. after a real fine Kirtan at Boulevard Lake, I passed by a couple in conversation seated in front of a motel room. I moved stealthily forward on the sidewalk when the man called me back.”Hey, my lady is interested in your clothes. She wants to know where she can purchase some because they look so comfortable.”

I backtracked to the motel room to explain the situation,” I have to go all the way back to India to pick up these robes.” Anyway it was great meeting them.

Then on Fort Wilson Road, I came by the plot of land where another circus had just set up camp with their tents all assembled. There were many trucks, colourful and all promoting, “Cirque Paranormal”, their license plate reads that the circus is based out of Florida. I met two of the acrobatic artists, Spanish- speaking guys, and also Raj. Raj is a driver and a cook for the team of artists and assembly operators. He was just about to head off to get some liquor, however, he changed his mind when he saw me. “I’ll walk with you”. And so he did. And so we walked all the way to the temple where Prem and I served him kheer instead of alcohol.

MAY THE SOURCE BE WITH YOU!
