Halifax, Toronto
The sights and sounds on Halifax’s Chain of Lakes Trail was an easy register for me this morning. I could hear the loon, but not see it. Two blue jays seemed to follow from tree to tree, but upon further thought, I believe they were just following each other and I just happened to be there. Near this beaver lodge there were multiple patches of poison ivy. The one element on the trail that was unavoidable was the geese poop, lots of fertilizer!
One other thought that came to my mind and unrelated to this wonderful walk was what a TV interviewer/camera man told me the other day. He is often assigned to attend and report on hockey games. The cameramen go to the top tier of the stadium to get good wide angle shots and what they see is about the upper five levels of people are fixed to their cells. They are absorbed in their screens and not so much the game. Only the two front row seats show some enthusiasm.
You have to wonder what is the world coming to when Canadians can't get excited about hockey. I pray that I may keep up some level of zealousness for Krishna consciousness. I could get complacent about all the chanting. I could rationalize a lack of thirst for my spirituality and justify reducing my participation by saying, "I'm a veteran." Or say, "I know it all because I've been at it for so long," so I take it lightly. Heaven forbid!
In the afternoon six of us from Toronto landed back at home base. There was an eagerness for some of our residents to walk to Queen's Park and indulge in a nice kirtan. A beautiful dog, part husky, came to join us. It was enthusiastic.
